I am a dependent student with a millionaire father and bad credit. How can I get money for college?

I can't get government aid because I am not considered to be in financial need because of my father's income and I am also not yet 24 to be considered independent. I cannot get him to cosign for a loan needed to go the school that I want to go to because it has nothing to do with the profession he is in. My FICO being higher would not matter because I don't have a work history of two years being that my father has afforded all of my expenses thus far. Might there be a pool of qualified cosigners that are looking for applicants like myself?

I %26quot;feel your pain%26quot;. I never understood how the government could assume that a persons parents were willing to contribute money towards their education. It's almost as though the person is being penalized for their parents being successful. I know guys whose dads were bums and because of that they received a free education (none of them finished, but the part they attempted was fully paid with tax dollars)

To answer your question; I don't know. I ended up getting a job with FEMA and paying for the majority of my college. I also got a student loan for the times when I didn't have enough free cash.

Join AmeriCorps. They give money for education.

You are lucky that you have family income to support you, once they see that nobody's gonna want to give you any financial aid.

Move out of your father's house, get a job, live on your own for a few years, and apply for a loan when you are independant.

Try talking to your dad about your goals. Or get a job and pay as you go at a school that you can afford.

There are a few things that you need to understand here. 1) Financial aid funds are limited--there's no vast pool of overflowing dollars available to fund all persons in higher ed. 2) If you are a dependent student (under age 24, claimed on someone else's income tax, reliant on someone else for every day expenses--%26quot;my father has afforded all of my expenses thus far%26quot;), then your father's income will be counted as part of your resources. 3) Students/families that have resources available (whether or not they use them), are expected to contribute to their own education. That's just the way life goes.

So, if you want to go to college, start working now. Or suck up to Daddy.
