Can I get back some of the tax refund money that was offset for student loans?

My husband and I filed married jointly. The IRS approved a refund but it was offset because of a student loan in state default. He was going to school and then in 2005 I miscarried and was in bad shape so he had to quit school and take care of me and our other child. We just found out the treasury department took all of our tax refund because of his defaulted loan. I didn't work last year because I was put on bed rest with this last preg. At least 2 months prior to filing taxes he had already made arrangements to make payments the collection agency for the student loan and they new that he would start making payments after getting our refund because could have paid off some other smaller bills and gotten caught up on rent, which would have freed up money to make monthly payment to them. They said nothing about a default.

Can I get any of the money back, I am not in default or anything? At least the child tax credit? We desperately needed that money. Is there any hope?

Can I get back some of the tax refund money that was offset for student loans?

Actually, YES, there is hope. It is under %26quot;Injured Spouse%26quot; clause. If you are under extreme financial hardship, you may be able to get SOME of your refund back. It is a difficult process (be prepared to send copies). Good luck to you.

How long will it take for me to get my bad credit on track so I can buy a house?

After I pay off my debts- what should I do next?

What are the steps I need to take to get approved for a loan for a home???

How long will it take for me to get my bad credit on track so I can buy a house?

First, make sure all the information on your credit report is accurate.

Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are currently in collections or make payment arrangements with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.

Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the available credit line should be paid down to under half of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered when your available balance is over 50% of your total credit line.

Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make sure all of your monthly payments are made on time. This will help increase your credit score. If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card.

Repairing your credit and improving your credit score is a slow process that takes time. Just be patient and follow these steps and you should be on the road to buying a home!

How long will it take for me to get my bad credit on track so I can buy a house?

There are many things that remain on your credit report for 7 or 10 years in the US. Go to ftc,gov and get a copy of your free credit report. This is the federal trade commission website and is a government site. There is plenty of information there to advise of what you need to know. Forget anymore credit cards for now and pay down your debt and increase your savings.

I am not too familiar with credit scores, but a friend of mine referred me to this site if a ever needed help with credit score. Hope it helps.

How long will it take for me to get my bad credit on track so I can buy a house?

If you are trying to buy a home, the last thing you need to do is get more credit card debt, secured or unsecured. A big part of the home loan approval process is debt to income ratio, so the less debt you have the more attractive you are to a lending company.

You will need a good stable job history, either at the same company or in the same field, 2 years is ideal. If you can put 20% down (which is difficult for most people) then you should do that. Otherwise, you should put at least 5% down, plus closing costs.

Your credit is a big part of it, but mainly just determines your interest rate. You should order a credit report, try freecreditreport.com, you get one free every year. Look over that and make sure everything is accurate. Try to get anything cleared off if possible like outstanding debts or collections.

When you apply for the loan, they will tell you what your credit score is so you will have a good idea as to what type of interest rate you will be required to pay.

I think you should go to a mortgage or credit specialist. They will run your credit, and he will be able to instruct you onto the right path, so that you are able to get a better deal on your mortgage.

How long will it take for me to get my bad credit on track so I can buy a house?

Let me give you the website address that a lot of my friends have used for their first time home loan. They all got funded easily and if you can't you can ask them what you need to do. That way you get it straight from the source. The URL is

Also, you shouldnt make so many inquiries. However, it is good to already have some credit and a good payment history. If you have a car loan and one credit card and no late payments for at least 12 months, this should help your score. In regards to the mortgage, money talks. Try saving up for a down payment. If you qualify for 100% and no downpayment, then the money saved could be used towards closing costs or to buy down interest rate.

I can't get a loan from a bank and a payday loan won't due is there any other alternatives

I have very bad credit and I can't obtain a bank loan and a payday loan won't do. Does anyone know of any other way I can obtain a personal loan of 5,000.00 without doing a credit check.....I am employed and will be able to make monthly payments.

I can't get a loan from a bank and a payday loan won't due is there any other alternatives?

Hello,

This is not a direct answer to your immediate problem but I am writing to help you get out of this situation altogether.

- Find expenses that you can eliminate (if you look really hard, i am sure you can eliminate at least 25%)

- Change the way you think about money. It's too long to explain here, but you might be trying to get your hands on the money first, and then trying to see what that money can do for you...Think about your needs. Your needs are not what you want. They are what you need to survive. You are fortunate to have a job. So make sure you are not always running after money. I hope I make sense.

Google financial planning sites that might help you take baby steps and help you have bigger ideas about your financial future.

Cheers.

Well you'll still get a credit check, but you do have a much better chance than vs. traditional lenders. You can check out www.promise.com If you go to the site it's explained pretty easily how it works, (better than I could explain)

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for ev

I am going to my financial aid office to see if I can get the perkins loan. I need more money for a laptop and to cover commuting expense. I am going to Malone College and tuition there is about 18 and all of my tuition is paid except for about 500 dollars from grants. I only have one loan and that is the stafford loan. I am trying to get a private loan but no cosigner because everyone in my family has bad credit and I am only 17. Basically my question is how can I get more money.

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

If the stafford is the only student loan you have so far you can probably get another student loan. You are doing the right thing going to the financial aid office. They will have the applications to fill out. I think I had 3 student loans when I went to college so I know you can get more than one. You are better off getting a student loan rather than a regular loan because the student loans don't have to be paid back until after you are no longer a full time student. You would have to start making payments on a regular loan immediately.

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

Do some research on www.salliemae.com

They outline a bunch of different sorts of loans for students.

However, you might want to consider this money carefully - if your only remaining expense is a laptop and commuting, you might want to try and work part time, and save money for this. Think about the interest rate and terms of the loan - it might turn out to be a VERY expensive computer and gas!

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

Check with you financial aid office about special %26quot;computer loans.%26quot; The colleges in the area I work offer 1000 dollars to purchase a laptop or desktop. Therefore, you wouldn't need to use your financial aid to cover the comp.

Check out the department of your program to find out if they offer any special scholarships. Go back to your high school to find out if there are any local scholarships that you can apply for.

You may want to get a part time job so you can earn some extra money to cover costs like these. Have you thought about living on campus? That would cut the cost of commuting. Just a thought. I think that you could be put on a list for more %26quot;emergency funding.%26quot;

Your first step should be the fin aid office.

Best of luck - don't get discouraged. You will find a way to make this work and succeed in college - just make sure to keep your grades up and don't party (you will risk losing ALL fin aid).

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

If you already have a Perkins Loan then that's the best loan to get. If you need more money then you can always apply for grants or scholarships. Here are some good sites to try:

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

Ask about the Parents Plus loan. My understanding of the loan is that if your parents are turned down because of credit reasons then the maximum Staffard loan is increased.

You are doing the right thing though, talking to your financial aid officer is the way to go.

I have filled out the FASFA and got a ton of different grants and the stafford loan I qualify for every grant?

If you only went subsidized on the stafford then see if you can get an unsubsidized one through stafford. Also Wells Fargo offers the stafford but also personal loans on the side for students to make ends meet.

Is there anything i can do to force a creditor to amend my credit report?

Paid a debt 2 over years ago and have not needed credit at all since then. Now am looking to refinance my house and found out that they did not mark my bad report as PAID. I have rang them every week for the past month with no result please help me I don't know what to do anymore and I need to get this done ASAP as I am paying $500 a week on my current home loan and can get it down to $300 with it marked as paid.

Is there anything i can do to force a creditor to amend my credit report?

Keep disputing these items with the credit bureau.

Is there anything i can do to force a creditor to amend my credit report?

Hey there, I believe that I can help you out with your problem. I work for California Capital and Investments Group. I am a loan officer with a lot of experience dealing with the credit bureaus (seeing as how a lot of my clients are subprime), I think I might be able to help you or at least refer you to someone who can help you in fixing your credit and showing you a lender who will be able to drastically lower those payments.

Is there anything i can do to force a creditor to amend my credit report?

Quick answer is - NO. You cannot force them to. You can continue to dispute an item, but at a certain point the credit bureau will no longer require the company to respond. Also, there is nobody out there making offers to fix credit history that can truly offer you any more than a credit report dispute.

My best suggestion would be to place a note or comment in your credit file and ask the lender if they would accept the same. Frequently (and I have done this) the lender can take the letter of explanation (special circumstances, etc) to the underwriters. It is the underwriter that makes the final loan approval/decline decision. The lender wants the credit for the mortgage sale too, they will probably try to work with you.

Is there anything i can do to force a creditor to amend my credit report?

You can try getting a lawyer to write them a letter - there are plenty of affordable legal services out there (try prepaidlegal.com - $36 a month) that will write letters for free plus a BUNCH of other great services including credit monitoring to make sure nothing happens to your credit without you knowing about it.

Is it possible to get a education loan without a cosigner if you have bad credit?

If you have bad credit, then you have absolutely no business taking out yet ANOTHER loan!

Is it possible to get a education loan without a cosigner if you have bad credit?

As long as you are young. Yes, you will be able to get a college/education loan at a pretty decent interest rate. The reason? No matter what, you will always owe them money. File for Chapter 11; file for Chapter 13; file for Chapter 7...as long as you are still breathing, nothing you do will wipe away the money that you owe them.

If they think that the loan will help you increase your earning potential...you will get the loan.

Good luck!

Is it possible to get a education loan without a cosigner if you have bad credit?

The financial aid dept of your education institution will give you a loan.

They handed out loans to me like candy on Halloween. Be prepared to pay them back.

Used Mobile Home Financing?

My husband and I are looking for someone to finance a used mobile home on 5 acres. We have bad credit because we have no credit. Our bank will only loan maybe 80%. Does anyone know of a mortgage company that could help us?

P. S. We are in Arkansas .

Used Mobile Home Financing?

it will depend on the age of the mobile home. Most lenders wont lend money on a home older than 5 years.

I think 80 percent is about the best you can hope to get unless the underlying land is very very valuable. Got oil?:)

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

if she got a car loan and i got on as a co signer would she be denied the loan?? if not would it help my score once we got it paid for? also how much are these places willing to laon with a score that high?she has a 670 something and i have a 484.she is 19 and i am twenty. please help

pleae no sarcastic remarks. thanks

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

Co-signers don't make up for bad credit. Unmarried and unrelated co-signers do not carry much weight, period. If you have to go on the loan together as joint applicants (you would both own the collateral) best option is to have a fair amount of cash to use as a down payment.

Good luck

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

i am a credit agent with a company known as central florida finnancial.

if you'd like on monday i can give you a call and get a card out to you to help you improve you're credit.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

It's not a good idea for you to cosign. She should get one of her parents to do this, as their score would be better.

You should do what's needed to improve yours.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

She should be able to get her own car withot a problem. Co-signors are those with real big credit to better help the primary to qualify.

In other words you cant help her

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

If you have an job, then you can get a car. Try Bar None , or Eastern Motors, there's other places where your job is your credit.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

By co-signing a loan you are saying that YOU will be liable for the payments if she defaults on the car loan. Don't rely on someone else to increase your credit scores. If you have a low score now it will only be lowered by now having additional debt to reduce your debt to income ratio. If you co-sign and she loses her job or you break up or ???, it's your payment and her car.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

you cosigning for her loan would not help her get the loan, or help your credit. If she cosigned for a loan of yours, you would be more likely to get the loan, and provided that you miss no payments, it would help your credit.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

please be care full about co singing your girlfriend car loan. your credit probably will not help her and you can be in a lot of trouble later. this is at list 3 years obligation for you. there are other ways to help improve your credit. if you want ,you can contact me and i will help you on this and tell you what you can do by yourself for free. you don't have to pay any credit repairing company to do this. you are very young and all your life is ahead on you.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

read tips and articles about debt/credit on this site

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

They can't count your income without you being on the loan. Besides, the credit score is not the only thing they will be looking at, so it would be impossible to say if you'd get approved as co-signer. Also, your credit would be raised, but not as much as if your name was the first name on the loan. It makes more sense for you to apply, and have her cosgin to help you. But if you do that, combined with maybe a secured card or something your credit will go up. Obviously, that and time passed.

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

co signer idea wont work..

If my girl friend has good credit and i have bad credit...?

It's a bad idea to cosign on a loan.

Let's say in 6 months you and your girlfriend are no longer together. She's mad at you so she stops paying. You are a cosigner, they go after you. It happens.

Help.........?

had a family emergency- husband had to leave out of state- we used all our money to get him his plane ticket- anyways- is there a such thing as a 'hardship loan' or something i can apply for and possibly have the money tomorrow? Or any personal loans or student loans? (i am a full time student) but i have bad credit. Any suggestions?

Help.........?

Red Cross or Salvation Army is about it.

Old Guy

Help.........?

Some airlines will offer %26quot;hardship%26quot; tickets for family emergenicies. You'd have to ask %26amp; be specific about the problem.

Help.........?

Check some charitable organizations-Salvation Army etc-sometimes they have funds for family emergencies-good luck

Help.........?

I hate to say this, but I think your best bet is to get a payday loans. Just remember to pay it off when you get your student loan check and don't take it out again unless another emergency occurs. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

I'm aware of the crazy exhorbinant fees involved, but our credit is well, dented to say the least from a period of bad events that set us back. We desperately need to re-establish credit but we want to know if this is the way to go or if there is a better card company out there that doesn't charge so much. We can't get a car loan or we would do that. Got to start somewhere. Opinions?

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

maybe get a %26quot;secured' credit card to start - its actually like a debit card and the limit is set by what money you put in the account - dont pay any fee to any of these guys..

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

No it is not a total ripoff but Orchard bank has better cards for re-establishing credit they are avialable here

http://www.dgftaworld.net

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

Secured Credit Card is the way to go. Keep charging stuff on it, and paying it off.

If you can afford the deposits, open a card in each of your names separately.

God forbid, but if you get into a bind again, you can perhaps save one persons credit to sacrifice the other.

If you can, establish a reserve of cash in case %26quot;bad events%26quot; happen again. You don't want a temporary slip-up to trash your hard work.

Yes, you're going to pay some high fees, but that's the facts of your life right now.

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

%26quot;Secured%26quot; card is the way to go. A normal credit card is unsecured. A secured is where you put up the money in advance for the credit bank to hold on to. You will only be allowed to borrow as much as you put up. Their is usually an annual fee and the interest rates are high. But if you use it at least once a month and pay your bills on time for a year you will develop a reliable history. You have to use it or you can't develop a score. After you have had it a year, apply for some better deals and then cancel the card and you will be refunded your money back. Shop around for secured cards at www.bankrate.com.

After 6 months with a secured card you might be able to get department store cards and gas cards. They will help your credit if you use them at least once a month and promptly pay them.

Be sure you get your 3 credit reports and satisfy all judgments and debts. Make sure all the information is accurate. Believe it or not they actually blend a lot of people together. My father and I originally just had one report in common because of similar names. Also, you want to make sure that no one has any lines of credit out in your name.

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

Don't get a first premier card! I agree they are a rip off! You need to pull your credit reports and consider dispute stuff that are incorrect or are being report wrong. Get you credit scores from myfico.com After that you can go to www.whogavemecredit.com and do a search with your scores. When I started to rebuild my credit, I was able to get store cards like walmart and target. Regular credit cards I was able to get were the bank of america secured and Hooters Mastercard. Hopefully that will help you. Good Luck! It's a long road to rebuild credit.

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

the only thing I know about first premeir is they wanted a 7.50 fee to pay on the net...I cancelled it imediately.

Is First Premier Visa a total ripoff or the only way to re-establish credit?

Stay away from them. Alot of banks do offer secured credit cards. And by that I mean reputable banks. Call the banks in your area and ask. Some banks keep this quiet. But it doesn't hurt to ask.

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

It's either became my %26quot;habit%26quot; or due to money constraints that I (for my husband and mine's) pay my bills (from visa to phone bills, electric bills etc) late. Some up to few months until I get a notice of cut service or collectors calling me (been like this for 4-5 yrs). Now I have a decent job (45,000$) and want to start and improve my credit. I know it will take time, but how long? I am hoping we can buy a house. My husband has less than 5000 credit . I have to start paying my student loans next month. Anything that I can do to improvemy credit?

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

Im happy to hear that youre making an effort to rebuild your financial viability and getting a nice stable job is probably one of the best things you could have done to begin addressing your money problems.

A lot of people here have recommended paying your bills from now on, and they're right on about that. It doesn't take long for short term changes like account balances, payments, and available credit to show up on your credit report and effect your score -- likely these are the things to have impact over the short term, and you have a better change of fixing your score if you try to address one of those issues, which you can do easily in a matter of weeks.

To help you some more here are my 10 steps you can use to build your credit score quickly. I raised mine to well over 700 points fro 500 using these steps in less than a year:

1. Know and Track Your Credit Score (be sure to sign up for the free trial of your credit score monitoring listed on the article below. It really helped my get my score up.)

2. Never Miss a Payment, Starting Today

3. Never use more than 20% of your Available Credit

4. Keep Credit Cards that Have No Annual Fees Open For as Long as Possible

5. Extend Your Credit Limit on Cards You Already Have before You Get New Ones

6. Get Credit Cards that Have CashBack Rewards to Contribute to your Balance

7. Transfer Your Balance to a Credit Card with a Lower Interest Rate and a Higher Available Credit-

8. If You Think You Are Going to be FORCED to Pay a Bill Late Ask for an Extension or Payment Plan

9. Take out a Small Personal Loan and Repay it Over a Year

10. Ask Someone With Good Credit if They will Account Shadow you

When you're trying to build a solid credit score it's important to get a comprehensive view of what is actually effecting it...

Your Credit Score (also known as your MyFico score) is calculated with the following breakdown:

* 35% -%26gt; History of Payments

* 30% -%26gt; Debt to Credit Ratio (available credit)

* 15% -%26gt; Credit History (length of open accounts)

* 10% -%26gt; New Credit (are you expanding your credit)

* 10% -%26gt; Credit Types in Use (varied credit types from loans to credit cards)

If you excel in one area and lack in another, only fixing the areas which you lack are going to improve your score.

You can read more about these tips on my blog: How Can I Increase My Credit Score

Best of luck!

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

Paying bills on time is the single most important thing you can do to improve your credit score.

Pay a little bit more than the minimum.

Pay everything on time.

Don't use more credit - get your balances down.

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

just make all of your payments on time from hear on out and check your score regularly most places wont give you a mortgage if you don't have a decent rating

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

Late payments stay on credit reports for 4 years. If you've had an account closed and sent to collections that will remain for 7 years.

Even though it takes a long time for negative factors to fall off the reports, your score will start to improve as you begin to make payments on time. After 2.5 to 3 years the late payments will have little impact on your score.

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

get into a discipline and things will work out in a few years

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

It all depends on how proactive you are. You can do a credit clean up now and get many of these things off your report this month. You can also manipulate your credit to get your score up this month. Creditors report to the credit companies every 30 days, so it CAN be done quickly. If you do nothing, it will take two to seven years. (Two years for credit inquiries to drop off and seven years for negatives to drop off.)

Check out the two articles below. One tells you all the things you can do this month to bring your score up fast. The other tells you how to clean your credit report step by step.

Hope this helps.

Bad credit score due to late payments, how do i improve my credit score.?

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution. I will hereby talk from my personal experience. I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details, if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times,

I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first, a good place to start in my humble opinion is astraight to the point ebook with question and answer I found : http://www.counselingcreditcarddebt.com

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

Just found out my credit union approved me for a home equity line of credit up to 50k. I'm new with all this. How can I creatively use this type of loan to my advantage? In other words, how can I make more money?

I don't pay a mortage. I helped my mom-refinance last year. She has bad credit, so I co-signed for her. After I did that, my credit union approved me for the loan.

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

A HELOC is like a mortgage, except that the equity doesn't get pulled out all at once. It stays on the house until you need some or all of it. Usually your bank will issue you a check book, and every check you write on it will pull out equity. Does that make sense? There's usually a minimum on the amount of the checks you can write (anywhere from $100 to $1000 minimum per check).

Honestly, owning your home outright is one of the best financial moves you can make. If you don't need a HELOC, you probably shouldn't get one. At least, it won't really benefit you financially more than not having one. Some people love the convenience and security they offer. You would have $50,000 available to you at a moments notice if you needed it. Of course, interest rates are usually higher than on traditional fixed rate loans. On the other hand, you would only be paying interest on the money you actually need to use. . .

There are plenty of pros and cons.

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

You should only use borrowed money for things that appreciate in value (like a house) or things that help you make money (like an inexpensive car to get to work). For anything else, you just end up losing money on interest payments.

In theory, you can come out ahead by investing the borrowed money at a higher rate than the interest you're paying, but to beat the going rates for a HELOC, you'd have to put it in risky investments like stocks. Then you're betting your house on the stock market--not a good idea.

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

well, first off, to assume that you can make more money from a loan is a bit unwise. I used to work for Chase in the HELOC dept....I saw people get these things and they had NO CLUE what they'd gotten themselves into...Of course you know that it has to be paid back. The only %26quot;crooked%26quot; thing I've seen people do is try to float the money. See, heloc is given to you via checks only, and there's a min amount you have to spend at one time. (you can't stop at the market and buy a loaf of bread with them). People take some of these checks, deposit them into a personal checking account, and then use that same money to pay the finance charge at the end of the month. Essentially paying for borrowed money with borrowed money. But again, in the end, it all has to be paid back...You can only write checks for a certain amount of time, then it's cut off.

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

Your credit union is full of sh__t. They approved you for line of credit on Home Equity that does not belong to you. Nonsense!

What are the advantages of HELOC's?

You can always buy an investment property. Payoff a vehicle if your still financing one.

I have finnaly found out what i wanna be when i grow up! But.........?

I have bad credit and i will need a student loan. What is the best way to handle this situation. I was told to get my bank to consolitate my debt but hey want a co-signer if i dont get one is there another way?

I have finnaly found out what i wanna be when i grow up! But.........?

Government loans are the best for someone in your situation. How bad is your credit? If you have late payments and collection accounts, work on cleaning those up. Your efforts to begin cleaning up your credit will show up on your credit report no matter how small the effort. I would advise that you start on this first before getting more debt for what ever classes your wanting to take. The last thing you need right now is more debt. It will take about 45 days for your efforts to show up on your credit, but it will help you get approved for government funding. Good Luck

My brother in law got in pretty much the same situation. He got a car through a local buy here pay here car lot. The interest is a little high but it can help you rebuild your credit. You can also try to take over payments on a car that some one is trying to get out from under. There is also a web site.

Can a person with bad credit no credit really get a bank?

Here's the thing. Most banks will not loan a consumer with low or no credit because of the %26quot;risk factor%26quot; of repayment. And even more so with no collateral.

However, there's lending institutions out there that will do this. However, they lend with extremely ridiculous interest rates.

Check Systems any info how to repair credit? Free credit Reports available w/ no strings attached?

I'm 24 now and when I was young and stupid I trusted my ex and we got a joint checking acct. Long story short. I was told by him that he closed the acct(when we we're 19) but actually he wrote a ton of bad checks but did pay the bank. But hey put us both on %26quot;check systems%26quot;. I found out after a year when I tried to get an acct at a diff bank, b/c he threw away my notification. I have no other outstanding debt. and I pay all my bills ontime! I paid off a car loan in half the time in the last two years but I did have a co-signer.

So how long am I gonna be stuck! Can I get any credit cards, if so which?

Is there a free no strings way of checking your credit score?

I am so frustrated w/ being unable to use a charge card in case of emergencies! I know I should have one to build credit too!Any advise appreciated greatly!

Check Systems any info how to repair credit? Free credit Reports available w/ no strings attached?

I'll answer your questions in reverse order. Yes, under the law you can request a free copy of your credit report from each of the 3 major credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) once each year. You can also request a copy of your consumer report from ChexSystems (free if you have been denied an account within the past 60 days, otherwise the cost is $8.00). I have included the links below.

Until you clear up the mess relating to the old bank account, you best bet will be a secured credit card. To obtain one, you will have to open a deposit account with the same bank that issues the card. The funds you deposit will be the basis for determining your credit limit (e.g., deposit $500, get a $500 credit limit). These funds will be held as security and unavailable for withdrawal for at least one year. If you maintain a good payment record during that time, the withdrawal restriction will be lifted and you will have established a good credit rating from the bank. To search for a secured card with good terms, check out Bankrate.com (link provided below). If you belong to a credit union, try there first, as they will probably have better interest rates. Also, you may want to try Bank of America, as they have a policy of disregarding ChexSystems entries that are more than 3 years old.

As for the situation with your ex and the old bank account, first get a copy of your ChexSystems consumer record. If the negative information is still there, then I would recommend obtaining copies of the account statements and bad checks from the bank. With proof in hand showing that you did not write the bad checks, try to negotiate with the bank to have them clear your name and credit. If this does not work, I would take the account statements and bad check copies to my local sheriff, district attorney, or county clerk and press charges against the ex for passing bad checks. Be sure to keep copies of everything for your own records! (NOTE: As it has been 5 years, you may be running up against a statute of limitations for filing suit in your state. However, ChexSystems entries are supposed to be removed after 5 years. If you know exactly when was the last activity on the old bank account, it is possible that the information has been, or is about to be removed from your ChexSystems consumer record.) Once you have a legal case file number, you can add an explanatory note, including the case file number, to your credit report at each of the credit bureaus and at ChexSystems. When the matter is finally resolved (ex is charged/convicted and/or is made to pay the amount of the bad checks), you should be able to have your credit report cleared and then you can have the explanatory note removed.

If all else fails, you might want to try PassChecking.com. They offer access to a list of banks that don't belong to the ChexSystems network and that will open an account for you right away. They also provide assistance in clearing/correcting your ChexSystems consumer report. The website ChexSystem Bites also maintains a directory of banks that do not use ChexSystems. (Links below)

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

That's awful.

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com to obtain free credit reports. It is a law that the each of the three credit bureaus let you see your credit report once a year for free. I usually check one every 4 months, to make sure everything is good.

Check Systems any info how to repair credit? Free credit Reports available w/ no strings attached?

it should fall off the system in 2 years, if the dent has been paid you can contact the bank that reported you they should be able to give you something that t least shows it was paid. Also some banks will give you %26quot;scaled down%26quot; account so you can at least write checks and deposit your pay. Chexsystems does affect your FICO score it is only a interbank system

Check Systems any info how to repair credit? Free credit Reports available w/ no strings attached?

like everyone else says, go to www.annualcreditreport.com and check your credit score and what is on there. I have a friend in Virginia that specializes in educating people about their credit and the government. Shes retired from Experian and TransUnion and she taught me a lot. If thats the only outstanding debt on your credit, if it is listed as a charge-off or a write-off, then call the company that it is from and have it removed from your credit or otherwise it will continue to bring down your credit score 40-60points. If your debt is more than 25,000-50,000 then you need to get a report from TransUnion because they only give reports for things on your credit such as house mortgage and car payments.

To help repair your credit, go at least 6 months without applying for anything because the more you apply, it brings your score down 20 points. Do not have your credit report monitored by anyone. Check it at least 60 months because if you have it monitored, it goes down 40 points each time. As far as getting a credit card, try looking into getting a Secured credit card, like from BAnk of America or of that sort. A secured credit card is valued more than a regular credit card because you will be paying one set monthly bill instead of paying different amounts like with a regular credit card. It builds credit quicker.

I have the lady's card and her website is www.fmking.com. she can tell you a whole lot more as far as rebuilding your credit and what can lower your credit. I hope this very helpful to you.

I am Canadian, how do I clean up my credit rating.?

I was extremely ill and payments were late, but have been paid in a timely fashion for the last year. I just applied for a car loan and was turned down for %26quot;bankruptcy%26quot;. I have never gone bankrupt, why would that show on my credit rating if I never went bankrupt? Can they just decide because of bad payments for a year that I went bankrupt?

I am Canadian, how do I clean up my credit rating.?

Check with http://www.equifax.com/EFX_Canada/ and find out about your profile...

I am Canadian, how do I clean up my credit rating.?

You really need to get a copy of your credit reports. Since you have been turned down for credit you should be able to get free copies. Contact TransUnion and Equifax. They can tell you what you need to do to correct any mistakes on your file. You could also put a note on their explaining what happened (illness) - it might help, and it might not. What might have happened is that you had an account go %26quot;bad or noncollectable%26quot; and the person arranging the financing didn't explain it properly.

Get your credit reports first. Everyone should review their credit reports from time to time.

I am trying to apply for a student loan and I got rejected two times. Any other places I can go to?

You can try Bank of America, Chase, Sally Mae, Upromise, and many others. Ask your college financial aid office for suggestions. Also try applying for scholarships and grants, visit fastweb.com or finaid.org for help with that. Also check with local banks and credit unions.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the

this has messed up my credit record real bad. as the loan is still outstanding. is there a way to get out of this?

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

First of all, look at the contract that you co-signed .. is there a return clause (or some other voluntary clause) where you can return the car to the credit company, and just have to take a small to no loss? Otherwise, you need to get your friend to tell you where the car is at -- and sign over his interest in the vehicle so that you can SELL it to recover what you can and pay off that loan.

Sorry, no quick answer to this question -- and until the loan is PAID in FULL .. you are LIABLE for the outstanding balance, and will have to PAY on schedule or it WILL affect your Credit Rating.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

Sell the car.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

Sell the car then beat your friend down when he gets out of jail.

Then take him out for a beer.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

Depending on how much has been paid off the car, their is normally a clause in the contract which allows you to hand the car back after a certain sum has been repaid, contact the credit company and see what this is,if not explain the situation and see if they can give you a settlement figure

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

i think you have to turn the car back in. you can also get more info from this board about how.

http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php...

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

The easiest thing (and most moral thing) you should/can do is tell the bank or lender where the car is so they can repossess it. After they repossess it, they will sell the vehicle at auction. If there is a deficiency due (they did not sell the car for as much as is owed on it), then you will still be responsible for the balance. If they sell the car for MORE than what is owed on it, they will send you back some money. Chances are it's the 1st case. If you do not know where they car is.......try EVERYTHING to find out where it is and get it back to the bank.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

sell the car and accept your losses or make the payments and keep the car

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

First of all, where is the car? If you do not have it in your possession, get it.

Second, contact the lending bank and explain what has happened, it does not matter if you are a co-signer or a co-maker, you are still responsible for the payments when your friend does not make them.

If the bank will settle for less than you can sell the vehicle for? Sell it and pay off the loan. If not you can still sell it and pay the balance due. Either way, you need to make the payments while you are trying to sort this out.

Worst case, you can have the bank ropo the car, they will sell it at auction and you will be responsible for any balance due.

A lot of people co-sign loans not realizing what can happen to their credit if the other person does not make the payments on time or not at all.

On the other hand, it's a great way to establish credit for someone that has none since both parties get credit when the payments are made on time.

Good luck, you are going to need it.

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

have you learned your lesson then ? dont do that again !

How can i resolve this problem? i co-signed a car loan for a friend who is in jail and cant make the car paymt

Do not follow the advise of having the car repo'ed. This will go on your credit report because you signed. When you co-signed you took full responsibility of this debt if the original signer (your jailed friend) didn't pay. Now the debt falls to you. A repossession is viewed poorly by lenders. It effects your credit score tremendously for 7 years! Do you want your credit ruined?

You need to first take possession of the vehicle and try to sale it outright for the most you can get for it. Then pay that amount to the creditor. Whatever balance is left over you need to set up payment plans with the creditor if your credit means anything to you at all! Keep a record of all payments you make to this creditor. Keep all receipts. Once your friend is out of jail, demand payments from him or her on these payments you've made. If he or she refuses to pay you back then mark it down as a lesson learned...never trust anyone when it comes to finances, debt, and money!

If you co-sign for something you are accepting responsiblity for their debt if they can't pay or refuse to pay then you are left holding the bag. Never put yourself in this situation. It's not good. Friends and family will destroy your credit if they fail to pay! It's never a good thing to co-sign for anyone!

I hope you've learned a valuable lesson from this! NEVER CO-SIGN! And remember if you follow these previous posters advise and allow repossession of the vehicle you are ruining your own credit! Sale the car, and make payments! You did this to yourself by co-signing, now be responsible for your credit and take control of it!

With a promissory note can?

I have a friend who him and I were talking at the beach with my freinds 2005 Acura TL next to a lifeguard tower. My friend was telling me how he lost his job and had bad credit now and couldn't get a loan for 5,000 because he lost his job. When the lifeguard pop in the conversation and became friends with us. After 2 weeks he told my friend I will lend you the 5,000 my friend jump for joy but the lifeguard told him you must sign a promissory note which he ask for the car as collateral. My friend tought he could pay him with another job he found but he was layoff and now cant pay its been 90 days that he hasn;t paid and the lifeguard wont give me no more chances can the lifegaurd repo my friends car with the car being mention in the note.

With a promissory note can?

i am sorry to say yes -- it would just as if he borrowed it from the bank and they were repro the car -- should the life guard just give th 5K to your friend!!!

With a promissory note can?

Yes the car can be repossessed. A promissory note is a legal contract.

With a promissory note can?

you didn't ask a clear question but it sounds like the lifeguard was smart and your friend is lazy. Your friend needs to learn how to find and keep a job so he can pay his bills. He deserves to lose his car.

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

I don't have anything seriously bad on my report, but I did have some late payments on my credit cards in the past year. Now I have a new job that pays well and I am wondering how long it will take before I can be approved for like a car or a home loan.

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

hello, Depending on the bills you are late on.

Most credit card companies will re-age the account after you have made three ontime payments in a row. You will have to call and ask what there policy on reaging is. Most will garantee in writing and allow you to make all three payments at once. (ei. min payment $20.00 per month. Send 3 $20.00 payments mailed seperatly and marked for what month).

Student loans can be Rehabilitated. This is pretty much the same thing.

Next thing would be if you could find a friend or family member to let you be an Authorized User on there credit account. You do not have to have a credit card just be an authorized user. Lets say your friend lets you do this and they have had a credit card in good standing for 6 yrs. Once you are added and the creditor reports to the CRA you will have all 6 yrs of payment history! I did this myself and raised my score almost 100 points in a month. Make sure however adds you is in good credit standing because bad credit could also be reported. Remeber they do not have to give you card just add your name as an Authorized User.

Good luck

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

You have to show all payments are on time and paid every month..You will see the first improvement as little as 3 months and a larger improvement in your score at one year. Most marks rotate on your credit report every three months but they can see the last year as well.

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

Takes seven years for negative items to disappear from your credit report. Sorry, but I know from experience (twice).

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

could take 6 months to a year

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

It can depend on a variety of factors:

How much debt you have in general vs. your available credit make sure that your cards aren't maxed out

Whether you applied for new credit lately

And what kind of credit you currently have. Is it all credit cards. It helps your score if you have not only revolving (credit) but installment loans as well.

Also, are you sure that there's no errors on your report to begin with? If so, you should dispute each inaccuracy to all 3 credit bureaus.

It will taek some time, but you should be able to see a change within a year or so.

How long does it take to rebuild credit?

One thing that you can do now is to pay down your balance on your credit card. That will improve your income to debt ratio and therefore will increase your credit. There's nothing you can do to erase the late payments in the past. It's going to take time.

I have bad credit but my cosigner has great credit?

what should my finance rate be for a used car no more than 15000 and a 48 month loan

I have bad credit but my cosigner has great credit?

that's going to depend on the particular place you get financing at and your score - they are going to look primarily at your score to set the interest rate, the cosignor just gives them some one to go after if you default on your payments - It will probably be over 10% rate - if you are financing 15000 for 48 months - that's over $300 per month NOT including interest, so it will probably be closer to $400/mo - that's a lot for a car payment. 60 months or more is more common now - that would reduce monthly payments by at least $50/mo probably

I have bad credit but my cosigner has great credit?

There are lots of ways to saddle yourself with payments for items that go down in value.

Why not buy a car for cash and save a bunch of money?

Not only do you avoid paying the finance charges/interest ... but you also can get a much lower price when paying cash.

See the link below for the smart way to buy cars:

I have bad credit but my cosigner has great credit?

It's your credit that will determine your rate, not your cosigner's. The cosigner is guaranteeing to pay if you don't.

I have bad credit but my cosigner has great credit?

it totally depends on your interest rate

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business to

Im only going to get 20% of the profits, how do we go about doing this legally. My social would not be in any of the paper works or loan. Would we need a lawyer to create an agreement form for us that is signed and dated. Also noted that 20% of the profits will belong to me. Thanks

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

You could form a partnership or corporation to buy the business. Buying with someone else is a major risk since he will be 80% owner you might expect him to do 80% of the work but he might think you should do 50%.

Why does he want you as a partner if he has to get the loans? You are risking your down payment if you aren't on the paperwork but he is risking his assets like his home. Are you only paying 20% of the down payment?

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

You have bad credit BUT you have enough money to buy into an established business?

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

Specially when doing business w/family you better get an agreement. In order to qualify for financing you should make yourelf less than 20% owner, or else they will have to consider your financial picture. You may want to note that you will also be responsible for 1/2 of all liabilities. Think this through and do the math. Don't let your head get so big because of your 20% profits (which you haven't made yet) that you make rash decisions. By the way, if it is a new business you will need some cash down..yup you heard correctly...You have been educated. Good luck

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

You should pay off all your debt and establish credit AND substantial savings before buying into a business.

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

gat an attorney

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

I'm sure you can get your cousin to co-sign. Get a good lawyer too though.

I have bad credit, but my cousin has great credit and we want to purchase an established business together?

I would NEVER do business with a family member.

that's just my advice.

get a lawyer too.

How do I account for receipt of a lease option payment in a real estate transaction?

I purchased a property for a buyer who has bad credit and was unable to obtain a loan. I am leasing the property to this individual and have an agreement to sell the property to him in five years. I received $60k from this tenant buyer as an option payment. I don't believe this should be considered income on my taxes since it will be applied toward the purchase price in five years. This is essentially a large security deposit and I am acting as the lender. Any thoughts from accountants would be appreciated.

How do I account for receipt of a lease option payment in a real estate transaction?

This is a very complicated (technically) question. Basically, if your arrangement looks more like an sale with a 60,000 down payment and the balance of the payment due in 5 years, it will be treated as a sale in the year of execution of the option contract. You will have to pick up any gain over the time when you receive payments. For example, if you bought the property for 300,000 and optioned it for 500,000, you would pick up 500-300/500 or 40% of each dollar received as gain.

If there is enough flexibility in the option contract for it to not be considered as sale, there will be no tax on the receipt of the payment because it is still considered an open transaction.

Please consult a professional, this question is beyond the scope of this forum.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score?

I'm working real hard to raise my credit score. It hasn't been good for a long time. As a result, I am paying very high rates for a car loan. Here is what I've done and am doing, however I am looking for more strategies if there are any. It may just be sit and wait:

1. Am paying off all negative entires. (They're not that bad, less than 1,500 in total).

2. Have paid car note for one year so far, ZERO late.

3. Have opened credit account at Electronics Store (600.00) limit, paid about 3/4 of a year, ZERO late.

4. Opened TWO secured credit cards. 700 Limit and 300 limit. ZERO late, however balance is a bit higher than 30% of limit.

5. Opened UNSECURED credit card. Two month history ZERO late.

6. Have not added additional debt.

What else can I do to raise my score? Any thoughts?

Thank You.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score?

I could write a lot of stuff here, but it won't be detailed enough to give you the help you want. Instead, please check out the Credit forum at creditboards.com where you will find a wealth of information on how to repair your credit.

The first thing to research in your situation is getting those negative entries off your report. Just paying them off is not as beneficial as getting them removed altogether. The term often used at creditboards.com for negative entries is %26quot;baddies%26quot; in case you run in that term there. There are ways to negotiate for having the negatives removed in exchange for paying the balance (this is called %26quot;Pay For Delete%26quot; or PFD). If you can do that, you'll make great strides

I'm not affiliated with the site but I have not found any other site that has the depth of information and knowledgeable members on credit repair. Good luck to you, it sounds like you are already making progress.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score?

You begin with %26quot;negative entires... not that bad, less than 1,500 in total.%26quot; I assume that they are at least $1,000, because otherwise you would have said less than $1,000. That is bad. Having even one negative entry is bad. Having negative entrIES, plural (and misspelled), that total over $1,000 is very bad.

Pay off all the negative entries, in full, immediately. Then wait 7 years for them to be removed from your credit report.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score?

You seem to doing a lot of the right things. Just a few comments. 1) Don't let too many people pull your credit, especially car finance cos. as they will send you to a lot of different finance cos., 2) Paying off an old collection (~ 2yrs.+) may pull your score down as it renews the clock so to speak, and lastly, check around for someone who can pull your credit (offer to pay) and run a %26quot;what-if%26quot; to see what else you should do to raise your score. A lot of mortgage brokers have this ability. Good luck.

Advanced Strategies to Raise Credit Score?

I'm in a similar situation as you ($1,500 bad debt, 1 secured credit card, and a student loan(zero lates). The most important first step is to pay off All negative entries in full. It won't raise your credit score that much but merely paying little by little this will cause your score to stagnate and barely move.

Once this is done, you will really see those unsecured cards really start to kick ***. In the past 2 months, my score has gone from 584 to 635. I keep my balance below 20% just to be safe, I only spend on small crap like soda and maybe 1 tank of gas. I used Orchard bank, since their limits are low($200), and they report the card as a Credit Card, so it helps alot.

In my case, paying off the loan on time always has done jack **** to raise my score, but just keep paying it on time like you always do, better safe than sorry.

I need a start up loan to fund my business, but i have bad credit and no security i spent my money s

i have just started a business steel fixing (concrete reinforcing) in perth OZ. i have just won two very big and valueable jobs from PYRAMID CONSTRUCTION and will have the letter of intent by this friday 2/11/07. i have 8 men already working for me but i can only pay them every fortnight then the 3 day clearing time for the check. because i have no money to back me up this makes things a bit hard for me but my workers are VERY LOYAL to me and cant wait to start the big jobs in the city in January at the same time. On that same note i have heaps of work with BGC concrete and 5 years minimum work on federal government jobs for keytown construction. i have upto 35 workers in sydney alone ready and willing to move to perth for me and 15 in brisbane alone. i certainly have the work and the workers, i just need the funds to pay for all these workers i need them and more. If there is anyone out there that can help please only genuine offers this is my 1st time i dont want to fail my 1st time.

I need a start up loan to fund my business, but i have bad credit and no security i spent my money starting up

If your business is licensed and bonded where you live, take the letter of intent from Pyramid Construction to your bank that holds your business checking account - they will factor it for you.

What that means is they will pay you a certain percentage of the contract amount based upon information they receive from Pyramid and you will have your money to meet payroll. The bank will normally fund your payroll account first.

That's where you start.

I need a start up loan to fund my business, but i have bad credit and no security i spent my money starting up

You're not going to get anyone from this forum to send you money. I suggest you go to the local bank and give them the details and see if they can give you a loan. Put your house up as collateral.

Bad credit affecting job search?

I understand why an employer would be leery of hiring someone who is behind in their bills, shows irresponsibiltiy and the fact that the person may steal or whatnot, but is it the end all to jobs? I am a few months behind on my credit card bills, and have some payday loans that are unpaid, and I am having a very hard time finding a job. I have a BA and am having difficulty getting a job at any place, I recently applied to a store that I worked at for five years prior and did not receive a call-back. Also, would it be good to mention it in an interview? Be like %26quot;I know my credit isn't the best right now, but that is one of the reasons I am in search of a new job, one that pays more money%26quot; (maybe not worded like that, but you get the idea). Thank you

Bad credit affecting job search?

I wouldn't bring any attention to your credit score. If people aren't hiring you based on your credit score they need to notify you in writing that that is the reason why you were not hired. Again, I wouldn't bring it up in any interviews, but that is your own prerogative. The job market is not the greatest right now and if you keep looking you will find the right job.

Now, if you are trying to be financial adviser or work at a bank or something, I can see why they might not hire you, but again, they should provide you some notice about the credit report being used as part of their decision. It is the law.

Bad credit affecting job search?

alot of companies now consider your credit when you apply, its just the way of the world now days. work on fixing some of your credit when you can and try to catch up is all you can do. some companies may ask you about it or for an explanation. but thats all at their discretion. good luck ! It can be hard...

Bad credit affecting job search?

I can not express to you how important your credit is in all aspects of your life. It's much more important than it was even 10-20 years ago. Tons of employers are now starting to run credit checks and it can be a huge factor in why you are not getting a job.

The solution: Learn how to repair your credit. It takes some time to learn, but it's free, it's legal and it's the smartest thing you can do.

Bad credit affecting job search?

This is sad indeed that lots of companies now look for your credit score. And yes, its somewhat have a hand on it to affect the job search. I would suggest you to improve your credit score. But how to improve my credit score? To find out specifically what you must do to raise your score, you can order your score report from all three national credit bureaus. In addition to your score%26lt;!--you'll get your credit report, an indication of how your score ranks nationally and an explanation of how you can boost your standing.

http://badcredits.awardspace.com/credits...

In order to improve your credit score, it's important to know where you stand currently. Despite all the media attention given to free credit reports--%26gt;you still have to pay to find out your credit score, the three-digit number ranging from 300 to 850 that is the key to your borrowing costs.

Bad credit affecting job search?

You should take steps now to fix your credit. Check out the source site and their free evaluation form; maybe they can help.

Bad credit affecting job search?

Keep trying or find a job where you are not working with money. Otherwise clean up your credit before changing jobs.

Bad credit affecting job search?

In the meantime, I would try temp services so you can earn some money, and be able to pay your bills. I would do that, or apply for a job that says they won't check your consumer credit (there are still a few out there, but not many, and they don't pay that well). It's unfortunate that it's hard for many to find a job with a BA, even if with good credit.

Good luck to you!

I am thinking of getting one of those life experience degrees, but before you say bad, read this ple

I have right at 90 credits towards my bachelor degree and almost $24,000 in student loans. I refuse to spend anymore money trying to get this elusive degree. I have thought about getting a life experience degree, however, all I ever hear is bad things and how they are fraud. If I have over 13 years experience in my field, and I have 90 credits already towards my degree, how come I cannot finish the rest of it with one of these degrees, and then an employer turn their nose up at it. Even the brick and mortar university I was going to, NO OTHER PRIVATE SCHOOL ACCEPTS THEIR COURSES AS TRANSFERS.

How come trying to get ahead is so badddd when it comes to someone wanting to get a better paying job?

And also, has anyone heard of Randford University?

I am thinking of getting one of those life experience degrees, but before you say bad, read this please?

Most of them are not even accredited colleges. Basically you are getting a fake diploma.

At least check them out before you get scammed.

http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.a...

Ranford is not accredited.

I am thinking of getting one of those life experience degrees, but before you say bad, read this please?

It's bad because you don't need any experience to get one of those degrees. They'd give one to anyone, and you having experience makes no difference. That's why claiming one on your resume is equivalent to lying about your education. You may think you have earned it, but they would have given you one anyway. So don't waste your money - just include your work experience on your resume.

I am thinking of getting one of those life experience degrees, but before you say bad, read this please?

I looked up your Randford university and the site screams scam. These sorts of %26quot;schools%26quot; would really give anyone a degree. An associates from a comunity college holds more weight, which is not saying much. The whole point of requiring a degree for employment at some companies is that besideds showing that you assumedly know what you need to perform your job, it also shows you have the commitment to complete 4ish years of schooling.

Honestly, you are better off finishing your Bacholers or just listing your work experience and that you have 90 credits on your resume.

I am thinking of getting one of those life experience degrees, but before you say bad, read this please?

If you feel that strongly motivated that life owes you a degree then just print out a diploma certificate with any popular PC publishing program and have it framed. Hang it on the wall in front of you. Feel the pride of your accomplishment. On your resume, list the degree but make you indicate it was conferred by yourself. You'll likely get questioned by HR on this entry, and in that case, be frank by stating you gave yourself a degree because you felt you earned it after all the hard knocks you had to endure.
